Scottsdale Studio Newborn Photos Archer

Welcoming your sweet Newborn into the family is an extraordinary experience, filled with unforgettable moments. One of the best ways to preserve these cherished memories is through Newborn Photography. However, planning a Newborn Photo Session can seem overwhelming amidst the joy and exhaustion of those early days. Fear not! As an Arizona Newborn and Motherhood Photographer I made this quick guide to help you navigate the process seamlessly, ensuring you capture the essence of your little one’s earliest days in stunning imagery that you can have as keepsakes, forever!

Choose the Right Time:

Timing is crucial when scheduling a newborn photo session. Ideally, aim to schedule the session within the first two weeks after birth. During this time, babies tend to be sleepier and more cooperative, allowing your photographer to capture those adorable sleepy, cuddly, curled-up poses easily!

Find the Perfect Photographer:

Selecting the right photographer is key to achieving beautiful newborn portraits. Look for professionals with experience in newborn photography and a portfolio that aligns with your style preferences. Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations from friends or family, and be sure to check online reviews to ensure you’re making the best choice. Some Photographers photograph with multiple backgrounds, baskets, props etc, and other’s are more simplistic with a few wraps, and focus more on family posing.

Select a Comfortable Location:

Decide whether you want the photo session to take place in the comfort of your home or in a professional studio. Both options have their advantages, so choose the one that best suits your preferences and needs. If opting for a home session, ensure the spaces the photoshoot are actually going to happen in are well-lit and free of clutter -to create a serene backdrop for your baby’s portraits! Don’t stress about the rest of the home! If you are looking for a studio space, be sure to find a photographer that can help you navigate through studios and the look you want!

Coordinate Outfits and Props:

Keep the focus on your newborn by selecting simple, neutral-colored outfits and minimalistic props. Soft blankets, wraps, and headbands can add a touch of elegance to the photos without overwhelming the scene. Coordinate any additional family members’ outfits to create a cohesive look that complements the overall aesthetic. For all my portraits, I send out a detailed style and session planning guide to help with all of this!

Plan for Feeding and Comfort Breaks:

Babies can be unpredictable, so be prepared to take breaks for feeding, soothing, and diaper changes throughout the session. Communicate with your photographer beforehand to establish a flexible schedule that allows for these interruptions while still ensuring ample time for capturing those precious moments. You want as stress free of an experience as possible!

Embrace Natural Poses and Expressions:

Authenticity is key when it comes to newborn photography. I encourage natural poses and expressions rather than forcing unnatural poses or facial expressions. Especially if you have toddlers that are navigating this new life as big brother or sister. Coming with realistic expectations and releasing any stress or tension about having the perfect photo shoot keeps things natural and fun! The most captivating photos often arise from capturing the genuine interactions and emotions between parents, kiddos, and their newborns!
